St Patrick's Day Celebration

On Thursday 18th March all of our students are heading to Ballarat to participate in our parish schools celebration of St Patrick’s Day, the feast day of our parish patron saint.  Along with the students from St. Patrick’s Gordon, we will celebrate liturgy with Bishop Paul Bird as our celebrant. It is most appropriate that we recognise and celebrate that we belong to a much larger Catholic community in this way as this year is also a year of celebration for Catholic Education in Australia. Catholic Education is celebrating 200 years in Australia, marking the bicentenary of the first Catholic school established in Parramatta in October 1820.

Over 200 years, Catholic schools have grown to become the largest provider of schooling in Australia (outside government) with one in five school age students attending a Catholic school.

This represents some 768,000 students in 1,751 schools across the country and employing 98,000 teachers and staff.

The Diocese of Ballarat will celebrate Catholic Education Week from May 23rd - May 29th with the theme “Faith in our Future”.  All families and parishioners are welcome and encouraged to join us at the Cathedral on Thursday at 11.00 a.m.

Please note:  Adults are required to wear masks in the cathedral.
