Change of Details
In Laudato Si’ Week 2024, let us gather in community to contemplate the wonder of
creation and nurture seeds of hope for our “suffering planet” (LD 2).
Laudate Deum is a reminder about the urgency of the Laudato Si’ message and the need for both personal and cultural transformation amidst our ecological and climate crises. This year’s Laudato Si’ Week theme is inspired by the symbol for Season of Creation 2024, “firstfruits.”
Let us be seeds of hope in our lives and our world, rooted in faith and love.
St Brigid's Primary School Ballan wishes to acknowledge respectfully the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work, learn, play and gather.
Laudato Si’ is an encyclical letter written by Pope Francis in 2015, which focuses on the environment and the impact of human activities on our planet. The letter urges everyone to take care of the Earth, our common home, and stresses the interconnectedness of everything in our world, including social and economic factors. Laudato Si’ Week 2024 will be celebrated May 19-28, to mark the eighth anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical. This global celebration will unite Catholics to rejoice in the progress we have made in bringing Laudato Si’ to life. Laudato Si’ highlights the importance of Catholic Social Teachings in shaping our response to environmental issues, emphasizing the need to prioritize the well-being of people and the planet in all our actions and decisions.
On Sunday, our parish celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation at St Brigid's Church with the children who have been part of the Parish coordinated, family based and Catholic school supported sacrament program. Special thank you to Therese for her wonderful work in preparing our children for this special occasion.
Congratulations to the following children:
Reina Borg, Alexander Cauchi, Archie Clarke, Grace Conlan, Petar Filipovic, Hamish Fodor, Bridget Grigg, Noah Kettle, Ciara Paolini, Oscar Phillips and Georgia Shanahan
This year, students from Year 1-6 will be participating in the Inform & Empower Cyber Safety & Digital Wellbeing program. This means that our classes will be tuning in to live streamed incursions (with their teachers) every term that focus on healthy and safe digital habits. The incursion content is all written and delivered by qualified teachers who are endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner as a Trusted eSafety Provider.
These sessions aim to help children better navigate the online world and become more aware, clever, brave and kind. They will focus on topics including navigating unwanted contact, cyberbullying, help-seeking strategies, unsafe content, balancing screen time with "green time" and sharing personal information.
The following website will provide you with further information regarding Inform and Empower.

Children are able to wear the correct sports uniform each Wednesday and on classroom nominated sports day as directed by your child’s classroom teacher.
The St Brigid’s winter uniform consists of the following:
A reminder to please label clothing, lunchboxes, containers, bags and water bottles!
