Change of Details
Author of Creation,
We praise You for this week as we gather to celebrate Book Week,
United with the courage and warmth of St Brigid we express our gratitude for our time together.
May we rejoice with Jesus in our hearts and an appreciation of Your continued work and love for our school community,
Please bless us as we enter our Book Week celebrations filled with hope, peace, joy and thanksgiving.
Amen
St Brigid's Primary School Ballan wishes to acknowledge respectfully the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work, learn, play and gather.
Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.
To launch book week, yesterday our children were invited to dress as their favourite book character. Our day commenced with our annual Book Week Parade followed by activities with our families.
A VERY big thank you to all of our very creative children, parents, grandparents and staff members!

To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Ballarat Diocese, five Message Sticks were gifted to carry the message to:
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12).
In Aboriginal culture, Message Sticks were passed between different clans and language groups to establish information and transmit messages. They were often used to invite neighbouring groups to corroborees, initiation ceremonies, right of entry to country and invitation to religious rituals.
These Message Sticks are being carried from school to school to remind us of the interconnectedness of all our school communities - from the Murray to the Sea. The message stick is displayed in our front office, together with an explanation of the symbols depicted in its art and on Monday 26th August at 2:30pm, families are invited to join us in the church for a short Liturgy to celebrate the arrival of a Message Stick that is travelling across our Diocese in honour of 150 years.
Reminder this Thursday 22nd August is a student free day. On this day staff will be participating in a Structured Literacy workshop. Camp Australia will be offering OSHC on this day.
On Friday 30th August, we are excited to welcome fathers and special people in our lives to our Father’s Day Breakfast and Liturgy. We will commence our celebration with breakfast from 8:30am in the Gathering Space. As this breakfast is for fathers and special people only, children are required to be dropped off to school from 8:30am as per usual. Following breakfast, our Liturgy will commence at 9:15am at St Brigid’s church and will be attended by the whole school.
