Change of Details
Loving God,
We come before you today with gratitude in our hearts for the teachers who dedicate their lives to educating and inspiring others. We thank you for their wisdom, patience and love for learning, which they share so generously with their students.
Bless all teachers with strength and perseverance, especially in times of challenge. May they find joy in the growth and success of their students and may they always feel appreciated for the impact they make.
Guide them as they nurture the minds and hearts of young people, helping them to grow in knowledge, compassion and understanding. Grant them the wisdom to shape lives with kindness and to encourage their students to be the best versions of themselves.
We ask for your continued blessing on all educators around the world. May they be filled with peace, fulfillment and a renewed sense of purpose as they lead the next generation toward a brighter future.
In your name, we pray.
Amen.
St Brigid's Primary School Ballan wishes to acknowledge respectfully the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live, work, learn, play and gather. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
Dear Members of our St Brigid’s Community,
This Friday, 25th October is World Teacher's Day. The work of teachers and their contributions to society are innumerable. World Teacher’s Day is commemorated to celebrate the work of teachers, recognising the significant contribution they have given to the society. This week, we take the time to reflect upon the amazing work of our teachers and their passion, dedication and care for all. A special morning tea in recognition of our teachers and staff will be held this Thursday.
Last week, I shared the news that Year 1/2 teacher Victoria Rosewarne will be taking leave for the 2025 school year. Victoria has exciting travel plans ahead, and we are thrilled for her as she embarks on this new adventure. Victoria is an asset to our team and her child centered approach, dedication and exemplary teaching has positively impacted so many at St Brigid’s. We look forward to celebrating Victoria this year and hearing about her adventures throughout the 2025 school year.
Recently, we conducted interviews for the position of Classroom Teacher at St Brigid’s. As we are moving to a model of 7 classrooms and in light of Victoria news, two Classroom Teacher positions were offered and have been accepted.
I am pleased to inform you that Callum Stevens and Jasmine McIlvena have been appointed to the positions of Classroom Teacher at St Brigid’s Primary School beginning in 2025. Callum is currently teaching at Siena Catholic Primary School, Lucas and Jasmine is currently teaching at Saint Mary MacKillop Primary School, Keilor Downs.
Both Callum and Jasmine’s enthusiasm, energy and child centered approach is admirable and their ability to articulate the importance of building meaningful connections with all is outstanding.
We are currently in the process of planning for next year and determining appropriate class structures taking into consideration many factors including class sizes, etc. As mentioned previously, we are experiencing steady growth in enrolments at present. If you know of families moving to the area and may be seeking possible enrolment for the 2025 year in Foundation - Year 6, please encourage them to make contact with me via our website - https://www.sbballan.catholic.edu.au/general-enrolment-enquiry-form email - jbosworth@sbballan.catholic.edu.au or phone - (03) 5368 1015. This will assist greatly with planning for the 2025 year.
Have a wonderful week everyone.
Take care and God bless,
Jayne Bosworth

Excerpt from St Brigid's Prayer
As part of our Little Feet Big Footprints Initiative, tomorrow, our senior students will be hosting a fundraising day to raise funds for their chosen charities. On this day, children are invited to bring a gold coin donation and are encouraged to wear colourful, crazy casual clothes. There will be food stalls at lunch time, ranging in price from $0.50 - $3:00.
October is Mission Month and this Sunday 20th October is World Mission Sunday. World Mission Sunday is a day dedicated to the great work of Mission. To celebrate this event, Catholic Mission is inviting all of us to answer our call to be missionaries. Pope Francis’ message for World Mission Sunday this year reflects on the theme: “You shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). He reminds us that, every Christian is called to be a missionary and witness to Christ.
On Friday 1st November, students and staff are invited to wear crazy socks to celebrate World Mission Month along with a can of food to support Catholic Mission. Throughout Mission Month, students and staff will learn about, pray, advocate for, and financially support children and communities in need around the world.
St Brigid's Cup is being held on Wednesday 6th November - more details to follow.
Save the date - World Kindness Day/School Colour Run is being held on Friday 15th November. Further information to follow.
All children are expected to be at school ready to begin by 8:55am. Arriving on time for school is important for a number of reasons. The first 10 minutes of school is a vital time of the day when the day's routine and structure is established. It is a time for ‘tuning in’ and focusing on the learning intentions for the day.
If your child is unwell or absent, you are required to notify the school as soon as possible on the day of absence, via a phone call through to the office or through our school Parent Access Module (PAM). If there has been no contact from the family in the morning of the absence, a sms from the office regarding your child’s absence from school will be sent. Upon receiving a sms, families are expected to phone through to the office to inform the school of their child’s absence.
Students who arrive late or leave early are expected to be signed in/out at the office by a responsible adult.
Each year, teachers undertake the work of creating class lists for the following year and many hours are spent on this task. Please be assured that teachers use their professional knowledge of students and their professional knowledge of what is best for each individual child when considering groupings. In assigning students to classes, teachers are asked to consider various factors.
Parent/Carer 2025 class requests of a serious nature, need to be emailed to Jayne - jbosworth@sbballan.catholic.edu.au prior to Friday 25th October, 2024. Requests submitted after this date will not be considered. Please note requests are not guaranteed.
On Sunday 24th November, we have the opportunity to host a Bunnings BBQ (Creswick Road). For this to proceed, we will require a number of volunteers. Please fill out the following survey, if you are able to assist on the day.
