Newsletter November 23rd, 2021
The Catholic Church officially begins the season of Advent this coming weekend and as a catholic family we begin our preparations and move towards the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas.
We pray…
God of comfort and hope, look upon us in love,
and fill us with the Spirit of Jesus that we may love and serve you.
Protect us during this time and keep us watchful in prayer,
as we await the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who is our light, hope and joy.
Amen
Dear Parents and Families,
It is hard to believe that it is week 8. Throughout the next four weeks, we look forward to celebrating special events including sacraments, Year 6 graduation and our end of year liturgy.
We are also really looking forward to Step Up Day next Tuesday 30th November. On this day we will welcome our Foundation 2022 children and families to school. This day also provides all levels with the opportunity to spend time in their 2022 classes. Classroom teacher allocations will be communicated with you next Monday via our newsletter.
Take care and God Bless,
Jayne Bosworth

Excerpt from St Brigid's Prayer
We are very happy to finally inform you that our upcoming ‘Year 6 Graduation - 2021’ will take place on Thursday 9th December, 2021. Graduation will consist of a Liturgy at 2:00pm in the St Brigid's church followed by a dinner at Donegan’s Farm, Wallace, arriving at 5:30pm and commencing at 6:00pm sharp.
Teachers have been working towards preparing student reports for Semester 2. Again this year, as a result of the significant period of remote learning, there are changes to the requirements of schools in the way these reports are provided. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV) has worked with the other sectors in Victoria to develop a consistent approach to the reporting of student achievement and progress. The reporting requirements reflect the approved reporting exemptions provided by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority. This Semester, teachers will be providing an overview of what has been covered in key learning areas. They will also provide an indication of the progress made by each student in these areas, accompanied by a general comment reflecting each individual student's learning journey through Semester 2. Reports will be available via PAM on Tuesday 14th December.
Please note the change of dates for our sacramental program:
- Friday 26th November - 6.00pm at St Brigid's, Ballan
- Saturday 27th November - 12.00pm at St Brigid's, Ballan
Please keep the following children in your prayers as they continue their sacramental journey:
Kristian Seketa, Joel Card, Eamon Grigg, Ruby Sims, Tahni Muscat, Ava Conroy, Nicholas Primerano, Angus Eskdale, Aoife Lakey, Jake Plageman, Madison Buttigieg, Henry Freemantle, Bryson McMillan, Mate Marinovic, Jaimi Reid, Clara Monterosso, Terrence Ozimek
We are very pleased to announce that Mr Peter Mullane has been appointed to the position of Performing Arts Teacher at St Brigid’s Primary School beginning in 2022.
Pete’s current place of employment is St Francis Xavier Primary School where he has undertaken many roles in a leadership and teaching capacity. Pete is very passionate about Performing Arts and has taught Performing Arts including music, dance and drama across all year levels from Foundation - Year 6. Having had a variety of opportunities to both teach and lead, Pete is very confident in his ability to provide quality education and to make a difference in the lives of children. His practice enables children to feel safe and happy while they learn, encourages children to be risk takers, demonstrates differentiation to meet individual needs and allows all children to experience success.
The panel were very impressed with Pete’s extensive knowledge of Performing Arts and his ability to reflect upon the importance of building meaningful connections with children, staff and the broader community. Pete’s connection to St Brigid’s stems back to when he was a primary school student having attended St Brigid’s School.
I am sure you will join me in congratulating Pete and making him feel welcome to our wonderful St Brigid’s school community.
Congratulations to Tiffany, Karl and family on the arrival of Everleigh Rayne Charlotte Hems on Wednesday 17th November, 2021. Everleigh is a sister to Scarlett, Allanah, Leah and Shakia.
Just a reminder that children need to bring drink bottles and hats to school each day!
Hot Lunches will recommence on Friday 26th November and will be available each Friday. We thank Mickal Trinder and Hayley Plageman for volunteering their time to do this. The children will be very excited!
Please see the attached menu for options and pricing. A copy will also be made available on PAM.
Lunch orders are due in by no later than Wednesday afternoon and are to be placed in the blue lunch tin in the main school foyer.
Please write your child’s name, class and lunch items on a brown paper bag, and enclose money. Any change will be taped to the paper bags. Please remember, two bags are required if having a dessert item as well.
We have some existing orders from earlier in Term 3. If you have an existing order, we will communicate this with you via your child’s Seesaw account. This order can roll over to next weeks hot lunch order.
