This week we pause to reflect on the importance of asking, R U OK? Any Day
Help us to be present to one another,
To listen with open hearts and minds,
And to be a source of comfort and support.
Give us the courage to reach out to those who may need a helping hand,
To notice when others are hurting,
And to offer a kind word or gesture that can make a difference.
May we foster a community of care,
Where everyone feels valued, heard, and loved.
Help us to be mindful of our own mental health,
And to seek help when we need it, knowing that we are not alone.
Guide us to be instruments of Your peace,
Offering hope, understanding, and friendship
To those who are in need of it most.
We ask this through Your name.
Amen
All children are expected to be at school ready to begin by 8:55am. Arriving on time for school is important for a number of reasons. The first 10 minutes of school is a vital time of the day when the day's routine and structure is established. It is a time for ‘tuning in’ and focusing on the learning intentions for the day.
If your child is unwell or absent, you are required to notify the school as soon as possible on the day of absence, via a phone call through to the office or through our school Parent Access Module (PAM). If there has been no contact from the family in the morning of the absence, a sms from the office regarding your child’s absence from school will be sent. Upon receiving a sms, families are expected to phone through to the office to inform the school of their child’s absence.
Students who arrive late or leave early are expected to be signed in/out at the office by a responsible adult.
If your child does not want hot pies or if there are any specific dietary requirements please advise via email administration@sbballan.catholic.edu.au
Please send snacks or a sandwich to school if more lunch is needed in addition to the pies.
As previously communicated, school will conclude at 2:20pm on Friday 20th September, 2024. Term 4 will commence on Monday 7th October, 2024.
Our school disco scheduled for the last day of this term has been postponed. We understand how much our children look forward to this event, and we are happy to share that the disco will now be held during Term 4, with a new date to be confirmed soon. We hope this will provide our children with the opportunity to attend and enjoy the celebration. We are aware that some families have purchased tickets and Spriggy has refunded the ticket money. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our school. We look forward to making the Term 4 disco a fantastic experience for our children.
On Sunday 24th November, we have the opportunity to host a Bunnings BBQ (Creswick Road). For this to proceed, we will require a number of volunteers. Please fill out the following survey, if you are able to assist on the day.
Our P&F are in the process of creating a St Brigid's School Cookbook. Please click on the following link to submit your recipe or collect a hard copy from the office:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DCDNJBT
Handy tips when submitting your recipe:
- Please use standard metric measurements for ingredients (cup, teaspoon, tablespoon, millilitres, grams)
- Temperatures to be given in Celsius (not Fahrenheit)
- Please list the method/directions with numbered instructions
Sample recipe below:
Condensed Milk Chock-chip Cookies
Serves: approx. 60 // Prep time 20 Minutes // Cooking time 12 minutes
Ingredients
- 500 g butter
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 5 cups self-raising flour
- a pinch of salt
- 3 x 250g bags chocolate chips (any mix of milk, white and dark)
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180oC Line baking trays with non-stick paper.
- Using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar. Add salt and condensed milk and continue to beat mixture until light and fluffy.
- Add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing in between each cup
- Add the chocolate chips and mix in.
- Using wet hands, roll dough into golf ball sized balls. place onto baking tray.
- Bake for approximately 12 minutes or until lightly golden.
This recipe makes a lot of cookies so you may need to bake in batches!
You are welcome (and encouraged) to submit more than one recipe for consideration! This will help us if we receive duplicate recipe submissions.

As spring has arrived and the weather is starting to warm up, students can wear full summer uniform if desired.
Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform, either full summer or full winter uniform.
Daily sun protection times are forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology for the time-of-day UV levels are predicted to reach 3 or higher, based on location. At these levels, sun protection is recommended for all skin types. In Victoria, UV levels typically reach 3 or higher daily from mid-August to the end of April.
Given this, children will need their hats effective immediately and will be advised when to wear them according to the UV rating on the day.
Children are able to wear the correct sports uniform each Wednesday and on classroom nominated sports day as directed by your child’s classroom teacher.
A reminder to please label clothing, lunchboxes, containers, bags and water bottles!
Our next P&F meeting will take place on Thursday 10th October from 3.15pm - 4.00pm in our school Library. An active P&F committee allows families the opportunity to play a valuable part in providing social and fundraising activities. Please attend this meeting if you are interested in joining our P&F committee.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as all funds raised contribute to resources and materials to support your children in their holistic development.
Please note - No hot lunch orders will be accepted after the 10am Thursday cut off time.
Volunteers:
If you are available to help out on a Friday between 11.30am-1.00pm please contact the school office (valid Working with Children Check is required).
The children really enjoy hot lunches and this can only happen with the help of volunteers!
